UFC announces David Allen as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa

LONDON The UFC® today announced the appointment of David Allen as its Senior Vice President and General Manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Allen first joined the UFC in December of 2013 as Director of Events, Marketing and Communications for EMEA. Throughout his 13 months with the organization, Allen has helped grow and develop the organization’s London office, and provided valuable leadership during a busy year for the region highlighted by sold out shows in London and Dublin in 2014.

Dublin born Allen kicked off his sports career with sportswear manufacturer Adidas in 1994. In 1998, he made the move to Nike where he held sales positions in the UK and EMEA business ahead of his promotion to General Manager of Nike Football EMEA in 2006. In this role, Allen led the team to over $1 Billion in sales and the market leader position in the critical markets of UK, Italy, France and Spain.

In 2010, Allen took on a new challenge within the Nike family and accepted the role of General Manager EMEA and USA for the UMBRO brand. He was responsible for creating the vision of the UMBRO brand, growing revenues, developing and delivering turnaround strategies to key markets.

In his new role, Allen will continue to be based in the London office overseeing the UFC’s business in the EMEA region and report to UFC Chief Global Brand Officer Garry Cook.

On the appointment, Cook said: “I have had the privilege of working with David over many years and his dedication, determination and drive will add great value. The UFC looks forward to the further growth of the brand in EMEA under David’s tutelage, as the organization targets new markets, partnerships and opportunities, including it’s largest European event to date in Stockholm next week.”

New Deal includes Expansion of Rights

New York, Jan. 9 – – On the heels of UFC® 182, one of the biggest UFC PPV events ever, iN DEMAND, the leading distributor of transactional entertainment to cable and telcos, and Zuffa LLC, the owner of UFC®, the world’s leading mixed martial arts sports organization, have announced a multi-year renewal of their agreement to deliver UFC Pay-Per-View (PPV) events to more than 50 million digital subscribers throughout the United States. Las Vegas, Nevada – The world’s largest mixed martial arts fight library is going to get a whole lot bigger in 2015.


UFC FIGHT PASS, the UFC’s digital streaming service, has obtained the rights to the fight archives of Cage Rage, Extreme Challenge MMA, the XFO, UCMMA, Hook N Shoot, TKO, King of the Cage and the Pancrase organizations.


The UFC FIGHT PASS library extension was announced earlier today in Las Vegas.


UFC’s Chief Content Officer Marshall Zelaznik said: “When we launched UFC FIGHT PASS one year ago, we said that it would keep getting better and better and would offer fight fans unrivaled value for money. We believe we’ve delivered on that promise yet again with this exciting announcement that these major fight libraries will be coming to FIGHT PASS.”


The new libraries will join those of the WEC, Strikeforce, WFA, PRIDE FC, EliteXC, Affliction, Invicta FC and of course UFC on UFCFIGHTPASS.com.


Zelaznik said fans will begin to see selected content from these new libraries added to the FIGHT PASS service in the spring, with content uploaded throughout 2015.


He said: “When we are finally done ingesting all these new libraries, we expect to be offering our members access to over 13,000 fights from all over the world and across and the entire history of our sport. That’s an astonishing 6,500 hours of archived fights on top of all the interviews, documentaries, original programming and live fights we have on UFC FIGHT PASS.”


The new fight archives will include:


  • Cage Rage – the British based promotion was active from 2002 to 2008 and featured Vitor Belfort, Michael Bisping, Anderson Silva, “Bigfoot” Silva, Dan Severn, Brad Pickett and more.


  • Extreme Challenge MMA – Formed in the mid-1990s, Extreme Challenge’s vast library includes everything from MMA pioneer fights with the likes of UFC Hall of Famers Dan Severn, Matt Hughes and Pat Miletich to bouts featuring modern UFC starts including Tim Kennedy and reigning welterweight champion Robbie Lawler.


  • XFO – The premiere regional promotion in American’s Mid-West since its 2004 inception, the X-Treme Fighting Organization’s archives boast appearances from Chael Sonnen, Clay Guida, Jamie Varner and Felice Herrig.


  • UCMMA – the successor to Cage Rage Championships, UCMMA features some of the best British talent including the early bouts of Jimi Manuwa, Tom Watson and Brad Pickett.


  • Hook N Shoot – A US based group which ran from the mid-1990s to 2011 and boasted appearances from future UFC fighters like champions Jens Pulver and Frank Mir, contenders including Antonio Nogueira and female pioneers including Miesha Tate.


  • King of the Cage – Founded in 1998 in California, KOTC has featured a who’s who of MMA over the years, including Dan Severn, Rampage Jackson, Daniel Cormier, Rory MacDonald, Urijah Faber, and early career appearances from current UFC champions Ronda Rousey, Demetrious Johnson, Robbie Lawler and TJ Dillashaw.


  • TKO – This Canadian league ran from 2000 to 2008 and served as a proving ground for the best Canadian talent including Patrick Cote, Sam Stout and Mark Hominick and Georges St-Pierre.


  • Pancrase – Launched in 1993, this iconic organization from Japan has featured legendary  MMA pioneers including Ken Shamrock, Bas Rutten, Josh Barnett and Masakatsu Funaki plus more modern names like Jose Aldo and Chael Sonnen.

Jon Jones sigue siendo el rey de los semi pesados #UFC182

LAS VEGAS, NV. (Bereavision) -La UFC comienza el año 2015 con una cartelera impresionante. Estando apenas en el tercer día de este año, con la UFC 182 que sin duda se convertía en un un “trending topic” en las redes sociales.


Cabe destacar que Jones y Cormier supieron levantar el rating para esta pelea ya que el pasado 4 de agosto del 2014 cuando la pelea era anunciada ellos se pelearon en el lobby del MGM Grand en Las Vegas.


Si bien es cierto, como lo mencionaba Dana White el día de ayer, la UFC 182 no fue un evento que se haya vendido totalmente, pero sin duda alguna tendrá muchas compras por pay-per-view.


La primer pelea de pago por evento daba inicio a las siete de la noche donde Hector Lombard se enfrentó a Josh Burkman. El cubano Lombard conectó mas golpes durante los 3 rounds. Por decisión unánime Héctor Lombard ganaba la pelea.


A continuación comenzó la pelea de Kyoji Horiguchi y Louis Gaudinot. Hogiruchi tuvo un mejor desempeño y ganaba la pelea por decisión unánime.


La tercer pelea antes de la pelea estelar era la de Brad Tavares contra Nate Marquardt. A los noventa segundos del segundo round parecía que Tavares iba a noquear a Marquardt. Tavares se llevaba la victoria por decisión unánime.


La semi pelea estelar fue la de Donald Cerrone contra Myles Jury. En los primeros segundos del primer round Jury le aplicaba una llave a Cerrone en la cual parecía tener bajo control a Cerrone. Pero Cerrone logró salir de esa llave e intento aplicarle una llave a Jury. Cerrone era capaz de aplicar la llave llamada “Triángulo”. En un punto faltando 40 segundos para que el primer round terminara parece que Cerrone iba a poder aplicar la llave pero no fue así. El segundo round fue un round muy cerrado para los dos. El ganador por decisión unánime fue “El Vaquero” Donald Cerrone que al final del tercer round agarro a patadas a Jury cuando estaba tirado en la lona.


La pelea estelar de la noche comenzaba a las 9:23 P.M.  Entre el campeón de peso semi pesado Jon Jones contra el retador Daniel Cormier. A los 40 segundos Jones tiraba a la lona a Cormier tratando de someterlo. Unos segundos más tarde Cormier hacia lo mismo contra Jones. Cabe destacar que en general por un 20 por ciento Jones conectó mas golpes que Cormier. Por decisión unánime Jon Jones se llevaba la victoria y por asi decirlo, “sigue siendo el rey” de el peso semi pesado.

UFC Announces Ken Berger as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Asia

Singapore – The UFC® today announced the appointment of Kenneth K. Berger as its Executive Vice President and General Manager of Asia.

Berger, 49, has a proven track record of business success throughout Asia, having worked across the region for the last 25 years. With an MBA from Thunderbird, American School of International Management, Berger went on to build his career at International Management Group (IMG), where he held the position of International Vice President Asia. His responsibilities at IMG included managing the licensing division in South East Asia, and then Japan, where he developed a variety of licensing programmes including Major League Baseball (MLB), Wimbledon, Arnold Palmer and the British Open.

Berger later made the move to ISL Marketing as their Managing Director, Japan and then to FIFA Marketing, where he headed the FIFA World Cup marketing and event services operations. After successfully delivering the marketing rights of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, he launched his own successful sports agency, Sports Marketing Japan (SMJ). For seven years SMJ worked as a licensee for globally renowned sports properties in developing branded mobile and pc sites in Japan for Serie A, NBA, NFL, PGA Tour, LPGA, UFC and ESPN.

In 2009, SMJ was acquired by Yoshimoto Kogyo, Japan’s largest entertainment production entity and talent agency.

On the appointment, UFC Chief Global Brand Officer Garry Cook said: “The UFC welcomes a leader like Ken to drive increased brand growth in Asia and take the sport and the UFC to the next  level. Dos Títulos Mundiales Encabezará la UFC 181 por la Revancha mas Esperada

Dos títulos mundiales encabezará la UFC 181 por la revancha mas esperada entre el campeón de peso welter de UFC Johny Hendricks (16-2) y el contendiente No. 1 Robbie Lawler (24-10, 1 NC). Preparando el escenario para el evento principal será el campeón de peso ligero Anthony Pettis (17-2), quien se enfrentara al ex campeón de peso ligero STRIKEFORCE dos veces Gilbert Meléndez (22-3). Este evento apilado marca la primera defensa del título para ambos Hendricks y Pettis.


EVENTOS RECIENTES CON MÚLTIPLES PELEAS DE TITULO: La doble cabecera en la UFC 181 es una de la serie de eventos de UFC desde el UFC 100 para ofrecer dos o más peleas por el título. Otros eventos incluyen la próxima UFC 184 en Los Ángeles, así como el ya mencionado de UFC 100, UFC 111, UFC 112, UFC 129, UFC 136, UFC 152, UFC 165, UFC 168, UFC 169 y 175 UFC.

Después de su victoria, el campeón recién coronado se sometió a una cirugía y ha estado fuera de acción desde entonces. CAMPEONES TUF PARA CONSULTA: Temporada 19 de “The Ultimate Fighter” vieron Eddie Gordon y Corey Anderson ganar las coronas de peso medio y ligero de peso pesado, respectivamente. Gordon es un compañero de entrenamiento del campeón de peso medio Chris Weidman en Nueva York y va a unirse Weidman en Nueva York MMA en el mapa con múltiples principales competidores en la división de peso medio. Anderson ha trasladado su campamento permanente a Nueva Jersey, donde no sólo se entrena con el segundo contendiente de peso pluma Frankie Edgar, pero él vive con el suegro “de la respuesta”.
