Surveillance Photos Released in Fatal Shooting at 11600 Village Place Drive
Houston police have released surveillance photos of two men believed to be involved in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 11600 Village Place about 11:55 p.m. on Monday (April 8).

The victim, 28, was transported to West Houston Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives B. Evans and T. Tyler reported:

The victim and a friend were at a nearby convenience store when he got into an altercation with another male.  The victim and his friend then left the store and observed a vehicle following them.  Someone from the suspect’s vehicle then fired a shot, striking the victim.

The driver of the vehicle, described only as a dark-colored, four-door sedan with white lettering near the top of the windshield, fled the scene.

Surveillance video from the convenience store shows two males standing in line behind the victim at the time of the disturbance.

Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 2400 Katy Freeway
Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash that occurred at 2400 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about  3 a.m. on Saturday (April 6).  

The suspect, Sheila Michelle Brown (b/f, 33), is charged with failure to stop and render aid and intoxication manslaughter in the 339th State District Court.  A booking photo of Brown is attached to this news release.  

The identity of the male victim, 46, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Benavidez and Officer J. Johnson reported:  

A red Toyota Camry, driven by Brown, was traveling eastbound on the Katy Freeway when it struck a blue Mazda 3.  The Camry then struck a tractor-trailer truck that was stopped due to a prior crash that occurred in the 2100 block of the Katy Freeway.  Meanwhile, the Mazda struck a white GMC Canyon.  The driver of the Mazda died at the scene.  Brown fled on foot and was detained by responding patrol officers.  She was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor leg injuries.  She was determined to be intoxicated and subsequently charged for her role in the crash.

Members from the church were invited to the “Honoring the Women of Our Community” event, which honored women that have contributed in the community, which the church of The Light of the World is also present in.

The church The Light of the World was also invited by the Democratic authorities of the city, which have observed the activities and collaboration of the church in the community, of which Senator Peralta, Ms. Alexandra Ocasos, and Hiram Monserrat, were present.

Miembros de la Iglesia La Luz del Mundo  fueron invitados a un evento “Honor a la mujer de nuestra Comunidad”, quienes fueron premiadas algunas mujeres que se han distinguido por su trabajo por la Comunidad de Jackson Heights.
