Interceptor e Interceptor Deluxe

Feb 20, 2014

Honda’s iconic V-4 powerplants have an alluring character all their own, a unique combination of torque, an aggressive rush of power as the tach needle swings up into the meaty part of the powerband, and a certain texture to the engine feel that tells you this could only be a Honda V-4. The new Interceptor® has all of that and more, including a chassis with that special Honda blend of agility and comfort that strikes an ideal balance for all-day rides on your favorite twisting roads. A stout single-side swingarm and radial-mounted front brakes make sport riding especially fun, and a front-mounted radiator gives the Interceptor a slim profile. To ensure long-term comfort, the Interceptor has upright, neutral ergonomics as well as an adjustable seat. This is a sport bike with plenty of emphasis on sport, plus the versatility for commuting, two-up fun rides and long-haul sport touring. The Deluxe model adds ABS, Traction Control, grip heaters, self-canceling turn signals, and a centerstand for riders wanting even more features.

Colors: Red, Pearl White; Price: $12,499 – $13,499; Availability: May 2014

Key Features

Honda-exclusive VTEC engine combines the power characteristics of both two- and four-valve cylinder-head designs. This results in stronger low-end and mid-range horsepower and torque while maintaining impressive high-rpm power.

  • Large-diameter 43mm fork offers spring preload for added versatility.
  • Triple-box-section twin-spar aluminum frame features a tuned, pivotless design that isolates the engine-mounted swingarm from the frame for excellent sport performance and ride comfort.
  • Radial-mount front brakes deliver cutting-edge stopping action.
  • Riding position is more upright for greater long-range comfort.
  • Seat can be adjusted for a seat height varying from 31.0 inches to 31.8 inches.

México 4 vs. 0 Corea: Internacional Amistoso.

Jan 30, 2014

San Antonio, TX.

Allgaier, who finished fifth in the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series championship points, will be a candidate for the NASCAR Rookie of the Year award.

SUPER BOWL XLVIII: SEATTLE SEAHAWKS VS. DENVER BRONCOS

Jan 27, 2014

SUPER BOWL XLVIII: SEATTLE SEAHAWKS VS. DENVER BRONCOS

Two teams. One game. It all comes down to this.

On Sunday, February 2, the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos will meet in Super Bowl XLVIII (6:25 PM ET, FOX) at MetLife Stadium in the first outdoor, cold weather Super Bowl.

For only the second time in the past 20 seasons, the game will feature the No. 1 seed in each conference (Super Bowl XLIV: New Orleans vs. Indianapolis in the 2009 season).

“It doesn’t happen like this too often when both No. 1 seeds make it,” says Seahawks Pro Bowl cornerback RICHARD SHERMAN. “It’s a testament to the hard work of both teams and I’m sure it’s going to be a fantastic game.”

Super Bowl XLVIII will pit the NFL’s top offense (Denver) against the league’s best defense (Seattle).

“We wouldn’t have it any other way,” says Sherman. “They’re an unbelievable record-setting offense with a Hall of Fame quarterback (PEYTON MANNING). That’s as tough as it gets. The No. 1 defense against the No. 1 offense.”

The Broncos led the NFL with 606 points scored while the Seahawks allowed a league-low 231 points. Since the 1970 merger, this is only the fifth Super Bowl – and first since 1990 (Super Bowl XXV) – in which the league’s highest-scoring team faced the club that allowed the fewest points.

“It’s the Super Bowl, so it’s going to be tough,” says Denver Pro Bowl tight end JULIUS THOMAS. “Nothing is going to come easy. This is for all the marbles, so I’m pretty sure it will be a tough game all around.”

The Seahawks and Broncos both advanced to Super Bowl XLVIII with home wins on Championship Game weekend. Seattle defeated San Francisco 23-17 and Denver knocked off New England 26-16. The two games averaged 53.7 million viewers, joining 2011 as the most-watched Conference Championship Sunday in more than 30 years.

In the NFC Championship Game, the Seahawks erased a 10-point deficit and then held on for a 23-17 win over the division-rival 49ers. It marked the seventh consecutive NFC Championship Game decided by seven points or fewer, the longest such streak in NFL history. Pro Bowl running back MARSHAWN LYNCH rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown to spark the offense and Seattle’s vaunted defense forced three turnovers, including an interception in the end zone with 22 seconds remaining to seal the win.

“That’s the way we’ve played the whole season,” says Seahawks defensive end MICHAEL BENNETT, who had a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the game. “These guys are relentless. All we do is practice turnovers on defense and we wanted to be in that situation where the game was on our backs.”

Lynch, who is the only player to rush for at least 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns in each of the past three seasons, has four 100-yard rushing performances in six career postseason games, including both games in 2013. Quarterback RUSSELL WILSON has won 27 games – including the playoffs – in his first two seasons and can join KURT WARNERTOM BRADY and BEN ROETHLISBERGER as the only quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl in his first or second season.

“To get to the Super Bowl, we’re excited about it,” says Wilson. “But at the end of the day, we haven’t done anything yet. We won the NFC West, which was one of our goals. We won the NFC Championship Game, which isn’t easy. But only one team gets the prize. That’s what we’re focused on and we’re moving on to play the Denver Broncos.”

During the regular season, the Seahawks led the NFL in points allowed (231), total defense (273.6 yards per game) and pass defense (172.0 yards per game). Seattle also topped the league in takeaways (39), interceptions (28) and turnover differential (+20). Sherman led the league with eight interceptions – his 20 interceptions since entering the NFL in 2011 are the most during that span – safety EARL THOMAS is the only safety in the past decade to record at least 100 tackles, five interceptions and two forced fumbles in a single season.

“As a competitor, you always want to play the best,” says Thomas about the Super Bowl matchup. “We’re here to play. We love football. We know what’s at stake. We know this chance is rare. I’m excited about this.”

Sherman (1st) and Thomas (3rd) are two of the six Seahawks who were selected to the Pro Bowl, joining Lynch (4th), Wilson (2nd), safety KAM CHANCELLOR (2nd) and center MAX UNGER (2nd).

The Broncos advanced to the Super Bowl with a 26-16 win over the Patriots. Denver will make its seventh Super Bowl appearance, one shy of the record held by Dallas and Pittsburgh. Pro Bowl quarterback PEYTON MANNING completed 32 of 43 passes (74.4 percent) for 400 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 118.4 passer rating in the victory. It marked only the fifth time in NFL postseason history a quarterback threw for at least 400 yards without an interception in a game.

“It’s an exciting feeling,” says Manning about advancing to the Super Bowl. “You take a moment to realize that we’ve done something special here and you certainly want to win one more game.”

Manning, who was named the MVP of Super Bowl XLI with Indianapolis, can become the sixth player in NFL history to win multiple Super Bowl MVP awardsJOE MONTANA was named Super Bowl MVP three times and TERRY BRADSHAW, Brady, ELI MANNINGand BART STARR have each won it twice.

“Peyton Manning is a Hall of Fame quarterback,” says Russell Wilson. “I have a ton of respect for him. I love him to death. He’s a great person and obviously a great football player.”

This year, Manning set NFL single-season passing records with 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns, becoming the first player in league history to pass for at least 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in the same season. He is the fourth quarterback to lead the league in passing yards and touchdowns and advance to the Super Bowl joining DAN MARINO, Warner and Brady.

In the AFC Championship Game, the Broncos scored on six consecutive drives (two touchdowns, four field goals), the longest such streak ever recorded in an AFC or NFC Championship Game.

During the regular season, Denver scored 606 points, becoming the first team in NFL history to score 600 points in a single season. The Broncos also are the only team in NFL history to have five players each score at least 10 touchdowns in the same season: wide receiver DEMARYIUS THOMAS (14), running back KNOWSHON MORENO (13), tight end Julius Thomas (12) and wide receivers ERIC DECKER (11) and WES WELKER (10). The offense averaged 457.3 yards per game and 340.3 passing yards per game, both the best in the league.

“We’ve spread the ball around so well all season, so it’s hard for teams to know who to key on,” says Manning. “On any given play, a number of guys could get the ball. That puts pressure on a defense.”

Head coach JOHN FOX, who guided Carolina to Super Bowl XXXVIII, is the sixth head coach to lead two different franchises to the Super Bowl. He knows the challenge that awaits the Broncos in playing the Seahawks.

“They’re a great football team,” says Fox about the NFC champions. “(Seattle head coach) PETE CARROLL and his staff have done a terrific job.”

“We’re not going to take this challenge lightly,” says Carroll. “We’re going to go after this thing and we’re not going into this game any other way but thinking we’re going to win it. These guys don’t know any other way.”

BRIAN CUSTER TO JOIN “SHOWTIME”

Jan 24, 2014

BRIAN CUSTER TO JOIN “SHOWTIME BOXING ON SHOWTIME EXTREME®” ANNOUNCE TEAM

Custer Joins The Freshest Broadcast Team In Sports
Beginning With The Undercard Of Saturday’s Can’t-Miss Showdown
Between World Champion Lamont Peterson & The Dangerous Dierry Jean

NEW YORK (Jan. 24, 2014) – Renowned broadcaster Brian Custer is the new voice of SHOWTIME BOXING on SHOWTIME EXTREME.

The knowledgeable and popular veteran sports broadcaster will take over play-by-play duties alongside expert analyst Steve Farhood and host Brian Kenny beginning with a three-fight SHOWTIME BOXING on SHOWTIME EXTREME telecast preceding the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® doubleheader tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 25, at the D.C. Armory in Washington, D.C. (live at 7 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME EXTREME followed by 9 p.m. ET/PT on SHOWTIME).

SHOWTIME BOXING on SHOWTIME EXTEME began in 2011 as a platform to showcase young, up-and-coming prospects in TV-worthy undercard bouts offering fight fans more content and value for their subscription. Custer and Farhood will generally call between two and four undercard fights prior to a SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast. Saturday’s matchups feature three undefeated prospects facing tough veteran fighters.

Custer bolsters what has become the freshest broadcast team in sports, a group that is as versatile and experienced as it is vibrant. The Emmy® Award-winning Kenny hosts both SHOWTIME BOXING on SHOWTIME EXTREME and SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING. He orchestrates the conversation of his colleagues with a straight forward approach and a broad perspective of the sports world.

Play-by-play announcer Mauro Ranallo joined SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING from the mixed martial arts arena, where he earned a reputation for delivering the high drama of combat sports with passion and intensity equal to the fierce competition in the ring.

The foremost boxing analyst in the sport today, Al Bernstein received boxing’s most prestigious honor in 2012 when he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall Of Fame. As knowledgeable and opinionated as he is fair and journalistic, Bernstein has chronicled the sport since 1980 and joined SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING as lead color commentator in 2003.

The brightest face in boxing broadcasting, expert analyst Paulie Malignaggi has made a seamless transition from the ring to ringside microphone on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING. Malignaggi speaks virtually the same way he boxes, with speed and precision. Concise, clear and quick-witted, the former world champ and current contender doesn’t pull any punches as he offers the relevant perspective of a fighter who has been on both ends of high-impact, dangerous fights.

Farhood, a renowned boxing historian just recently named to the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame, is one of the most trusted and respected veterans in the business for his conversational style and astute ability to recognize nuanced strategy and style. A former journalist and editor of THE RING Magazine, Farhood has never lost his wonder for the sport, a trait that makes him one of the easiest broadcasters for fans to relate to.

Emmy Award-winning sports reporter Jim Gray always knows what the viewers want to ask. What sets him apart from his peers is that he is not afraid to ask the toughest questions on live television. Reporting for SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING since 1994, Gray is known for his direct and tenacious interview technique, providing viewers a glimpse into the psyche of prizefighters before and after some of the biggest fights of their lives.

Custer, who won an Emmy while at SportsNet New York (SNY) for his work on the network’s documentary “Baseball in Africa: A Diamond in the Rough,” has been a mainstay on SNY since 2006. Experienced in the sweet science, Custer first called the action on SHOWTIME EXTREME on Oct. 26 for the undercard of the Hopkins vs. Murat event and has called fights for the “Broadway Boxing” series since 2009.

Custer hosts numerous shows at SNY, including The WheelHouse and Jets Post Game Live. Prior to joining SNY, Custer worked at CBS-11 in Dallas for eight years as a sports anchor. A fighter outside of the broadcast booth, Custer overcame a battle with prostate cancer in 2013 and was diagnosed cancer-free following a successful surgery last August.

“At SHOWTIME, we’re always striving to deliver the biggest and most significant events in the sport via the highest quality production in our telecasts,” said Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager, SHOWTIME Sports. “One of the key elements of our strategy is to provide viewers with the brightest minds and the freshest voices in sports broadcasting. Brian’s passion, knowledge and experience in boxing make him the perfect fit for our telecast booth.”

The addition of Custer to the announce team is one of the integral production changes Espinoza has overseen since joining SHOWTIME in 2011. With consistently solid matchups, the addition of Kenny, Malignaggi and live undercard fights on SHOWTIME EXTREME, average viewership for SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING has increased more than 60 percent in the past two years.

In tomorrow’s SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING main event (live on SHOWTIME at 9 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast), Lamont Peterson will defend his IBF Junior Welterweight World Championship against undefeated Canadian contender Dierry Jean. In the co-feature, super welterweight contender Jermell Charlo will face the dangerous, former world title challenger Gabriel Rosado in a 10-round bout at 154 pounds.

In action on SHOWTIME EXTREME (live on SHO EXTREME at 7 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the West Coast), three-time U.S. Olympian and undefeated bantamweight prospect Rau’Shee Warren will face the more experienced German Meraz in an eight-round bout; hard-hitting lightweight prospect Robert Easter, Jr., will take on veteran Daniel Attah in another eight-rounder; and undefeated middleweight Dominic Wade will square off with Dashon Johnson in a six-round fight.

YANKEES SIGN RHP MASAHIRO TANAKA
The New York Yankees today announced they have signed right-handed pitcher Masahiro Tanaka to a seven-year Major League contract, extending through the 2020 season with an opt-out following the 2017 season.

Tanaka, 25, went 99-35 with a 2.30 ERA (1,315.0IP, 336ER), 1,182 hits allowed, 275 walks and 1,238 strikeouts in 175 career games (172 starts) over seven seasons with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles in Japan’s Pacific League (2007-13). He threw 53 complete games (18 shutouts) with Rakuten, and allowed .899 hits per inning in his Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) career.

In 2013, Tanaka was 24-0 with a 1.27 ERA (212.0IP, 30ER) in 28 games (27 starts), allowing 168 hits and 32 walks with 183 strikeouts. He tossed eight complete games and two shutouts with one save while leading NPB in wins and ERA. In the Japan Series vs. the Yomiuri Giants, Tanaka went 1-1 with a 2.37 ERA (19.0IP, 5ER) in three games (two starts) with four walks and 21 strikeouts. He was given the honor of throwing the final pitches in Game 7 of the best-of-seven Series, earning the save as Rakuten captured its first title in franchise history.

Over the past three seasons (2011-13), Tanaka has gone 53-9 with a 1.44 ERA (611.1IP, 98ER), 30 complete games and 11 shutouts in 77 games (76 starts), striking out 593 batters with just 78 walks over the stretch.

Tanaka is a two-time winner of the prestigious Sawamura Award as Nippon Professional Baseball’s best pitcher, garnering the prize in 2013 and 2011, when he went 19-5 with a 1.27 ERA (226.1IP, 32ER), having allowed just 171 hits and 27 walks with 241 strikeouts.
Tanaka pitched for Japan in both the 2009 and ’13 World Baseball Classics, combining to make eight appearances (one start) and post a 2.89 ERA (9.1IP, 13H, 4R, 3ER, 0BB, 1HR, 17K), while helping guide the 2009 team to a championship. He also competed on Japan’s national team in the 2008 Olympics.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound right-hander was born in the city of Itami in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, and went to high school at Komazawa University Tomakomai High School. He was drafted by Rakuten with the first overall pick in the 2006 NPB Draft.
He will become the seventh Japan-born player to appear in a game for the Yankees, joining Hideki Irabu (1997-99), Hideki Matsui (2003-09), Kei Igawa (2007-08), Hiroki Kuroda (2012-13), Ryota Igarashi (2012) and Ichiro Suzuki (2012-13). With Tanaka joining teammate Hiroki Kuroda, the Yankees will have two Japan-born pitchers in their starting rotation in 2014 to become the first team to do so since the Los Angeles Dodgers had Hideo Nomo and Kazuhisa Ishii starting for them in 2004.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Yankees designated left-handed pitcher David Huff for assignment.

AMA Pro Racing Releases 2014 AMA Pro Road Racing Schedule

Jan 8, 2014

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 7, 2014) – AMA Pro Racing announced today the 2014 AMA Pro Road Racing schedule, featuring the full complement of classes at each stop on the circuit. The AMA Pro SuperBike, GoPro Daytona SportBike and AMA Pro SuperSport divisions will contest doubleheaders at each round in 2014, while the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series will participate in one race final per weekend.

The 73rd annual DAYTONA 200 will kick off the season on March 13 – 15, 2014 at the legendary Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla.  America’s longest running endurance motorcycle race will be contested on Saturday afternoon as part of a traditional three-day event weekend that is expected to produce thrilling racing action by some of the finest riders in the sport today. Josh Herrin and Martin Cardenas split AMA Pro SuperBike victories at Daytona a year ago, as they both benefited from a Josh Hayes bike malfunction that resulted in the three-time SuperBike champ exiting both races early. In the 2013 running of the DAYTONA 200, Cameron Beaubierdominated as he won the historic race by a whopping 22.254 seconds.

Next up, the series will be heading back to Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis. on the weekend of May 30 – June 1, 2014. Measuring in at just over four miles as the longest circuit on the schedule, the classic track is sure to size up the competition as summer begins to kick in across the nation. Last season, Hayes recorded a clean sweep, winning both SuperBike races at Road America in convincing fashion, and the Mississippian will look to repeat his performance in 2014.

Fans in the Southeast will be pleased to know that the series will be returning to Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala. on the weekend of June 21 – 22, 2014. The Barber event will be the first on the 2014 calendar planned with the recently announced two-day event schedule. As if the racing action isn’t enough, the historic venue is also home to the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum which contains over 750 vintage and modern motorcycles for avid race fans to take in over the course of the weekend. It was another clean sweep for Hayes in Alabama last season, as he barely edged out archrival Roger Hayden by less than a half of a second in both contests.

Dating back to 1962, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course has been a well-deserved mainstay on the American road racing scene, and the legendary asphalt has seen some of the most exciting road racing action in the country. The two-day event weekend set to be held on July 19 – 20, 2014 is sure to be one of the most action packed of the year. The series will be heading back to Lexington, Ohio for the 32nd consecutive time to take on the 2.4-mile, 15-turn natural terrain road course for another set of exciting shootouts. Hayes and Herrin split victories in AMA Pro SuperBike competition at Mid-Ohio in 2013 while Beaubier continued his dominant march with another set of wins on his way to capturing the 2013 GoPro Daytona SportBike championship.

Round 5 will take place at New Jersey Motorsports Park on the weekend of September 13 – 14, 2014, marking the sixth consecutive season that the series has made the trek to the Garden State. The 2.25-mile track in Millville, N.J. has been a battlefield for competitors since the gorgeous grounds were opened in 2009. The 2014 contest at NJMP has also been scheduled as a two-day event. Former Monster Energy Graves Yamaha teammates Hayes and Herrin found themselves in a neck-and-neck battle here last year and each of the elite riders recorded one victory in the second-to-last event of the 2013 season.

A sixth event may be added to the 2014 AMA Pro Road Racing schedule in the coming weeks. Additional details will be released upon confirmation of the event.

The 2014 AMA Pro Road Racing schedule is as follows:

  1. March 13 – 15 – Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Fla.
  2. May 30 – June 1 – Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wis.
  3. June 21 – 22 – Barber Motorsports Park, Birmingham, Ala.*
  4. July 19 – 20 – Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Lexington, Ohio*
  5. September 13 – 14 – New Jersey Motorsports Park, Millville, N.J.*
* – These events will feature the two-day event schedule
