Join the Annual Winter Reading Program this December and have lots of fun during the holidays! Kids can read  any of their favorite books over the holidays and earn prizes during the winter break. All they need to do is read for 20 minutes a day for 10 days to earn a free book! They can also earn collectible buttons for registering, attending programs, and completing their reading goal. This program is for youth ages 0-18.

The Winter Reading Program registration opens December 15, 2018. Prizes will be awarded at their neighborhood library starting December 15, 2018 through January 31, 2019 during operating hours. Prizes are available while they last. For fun programs to attend, kids can check out HPL’s online calendar and look for a neighbor library location to see what activities are scheduled. Some programs include: Preschool Storytime Stained Glass snowflakes Rose Pens and Color Changing Instaworms.

Kids can read anything they like! Books, comics, newspapers, magazine articles, blogs, web pages, listen to an audiobook or have someone read to them; all these types of reading count. If they need reading suggestions, They can check out the “Recommendations” tab in their Beanstack account for Book Lists, that can be found at  or they can even get a personalized reading list from their HPL librarians.

Ho! Ho! Ho! He’s here! Santa is making a magical stop at HPL, and he’s ready to pick-up every child’s Christmas wish list. Santa is also bringing lots of holiday cheer, music and fun, too. Parents don’t forget your cameras! Capture that special moment when your child meets the jolliest elf himself, Santa. Cherish the moment  for years to come. This event is free and open to the public.
