HOUSTON, TX – This September, Houston Public Library (HPL) invites all Houstonians to show off the power of their MYLink library card during a special social media contest.
This year’s Library Card Sign-Up Month theme, “One Card, Endless Possibilities,” highlights all the incredible resources, tools, and experiences available through HPL.
From September 1 – 30, new customers can participate by snapping a photo with their MYLink card and two checked out books, sharing the photo on social media, and tagging @houstonpubliclibrary. By using the hashtag #MYLink, participants will be entered to win one of three $100 gift cards.
“A MYLink library card is one of the most valuable cards you can carry,” said Sandy Gaw, Director of Houston Public Library. “It gives you access to books, technology, creative spaces, digital entertainment, and lifelong learning. We want to make sure every Houstonian knows what their library card can do.”
A MYLink library card gives you FREE access to:
- Thousands of books, e-books, audiobooks, and digital magazines and newspapers.
- Online databases, research tools, and e-learning platforms.
- Educational and cultural events for all ages.
- Study rooms, meeting spaces, and computers equipped with internet access.
- State-of-the-art TECHLink technology centers equipped with virtual reality headsets, podcast and music recording studios, 3D printers, embroidery machines, laser cutters, engravers, and more.
- History Research Centers where you can trace and discover local African American history, family history, Houston and Texas history, and Hispanic history.

- Follow us on Facebook or Instagram, share a post holding your new library card and two physical books, and tag us using #MYLink.
- Be sure your account is public, so your entry is visible.
