Houston Sending Relief Amid Devastating Central Texas Floods
The Houston Fire Department is assisting first responders in Kerr County with an engine and four members from the Tactical Deployment Unit.

Additionally, three HFD firefighters are deploying as part of Texas A&M Task Force One.

“My thoughts are with the people of Kerr County and surrounding areas affected by the devastating flooding and loss of life,” said Mayor John Whitmire. “As mayor of a city that knows the toll of major storms, I understand the fear and uncertainty so many are feeling. I’m in contact with Houstonians in the Hill Country, including parents with children in summer camps, and checking on their well-being. I know that our members of the Houston Fire Department will do a great job assisting with response and recovery during this difficult time.”

Houston Fire Chief Thomas Muñoz said, “The loss of life and damage to the communities in Central Texas is tragic. As we so often see help from around the state come to Houston when we face floods, we are proud to be able to support others in their time of need.”

HFD will provide updates on the Tactical Deployment Unit support. Details on Task Force One deployment should be directed to Merribeth Kahlich with Texas A&M Task Force One.
