| Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 2400 Pierce Street about 11:30 p.m. on Sunday (February 1).
The suspect, Enrique Acevedo Barocio, 27, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 497th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Barocio is attached to this news release.
The identity of the deceased female, 32, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Barrow and Officer D. Thompson reported:
A blue Ford Expedition was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed near the above address when the driver struck a pedestrian and several parked vehicles. The pedestrian was walking across the street when the accident occurred.
Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male pedestrian deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Ford, Enrique Acevedo Barocio, showed signs of intoxication. The Harris County’s District Office was consulted and he was subsequently charged and taken to the Harris County Jail.
