| Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 3343 Anita Street about 12:10 a.m. on Thursday (January 29).
The suspect, Rogers McFarland Jr., 28, is charged with murder in the 176th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of McFarland is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 46, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives G. Zavala and K. Aloysius reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and located a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside the residence. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported male to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
According to witnesses, the suspect entered the home, shot the male and fled the location on foot. Officers patrolling the area located McFarland and detained him without incident.
After further investigation, detectives consulted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and the suspect was charged, arrested and booked into the Harris County jail.
