| Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred in the 7900 block of Comal Street about 10:45 a.m. on October 22, 2025.
The suspect, Dylan Villanueva, 29, is charged with murder in the 488th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Villanueva is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified John Crockett, 54.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives C Sharp, E. May and D Crowder reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and located a male with gunshot wounds inside a crashed vehicle. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene. He was later identified as Mr. Crockett.
Investigators learned that Crockett was driving when the suspect approached his vehicle and made contact with him. The suspect then shot Crockett and fled the scene southbound on foot. The victim’s vehicle then crashed into a telephone pole.
Further investigation identified Dylan Villanueva as the suspect in this incident. Villanueva was in the Harris County Jail on an unrelated charge when he was charged for his role in this shooting.
