| Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in a man’s death that occurred at 2417 Galveston Road about 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 23).
The suspect, Shon Rudy Perez, 30, is charged with murder in the 263rd Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Perez is attached to this news release.
The identity of the deceased male, 59, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. LaFour and Detective A. Hernandez reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a welfare check at the above address. Officers located an unresponsive male inside the residence. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.
Further investigation identified Perez, the victim’s son, as a suspect in this case. With assistance from Harris County Precinct 6 deputies, Perez was arrested without incident. The suspect was interviewed by investigators and confessed to having a physical altercation with the victim causing injury to the victim’s head.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and the suspect was subsequently charged with murder and booked into the Harris County Jail.
