Guaynabo, Puerto Rico (Sept. 10, 2025) — Villalba, Puerto Rico’s unified WBA, WBO, and Ring Magazine Minimumweight World Champion, Oscar “El Pupilo” Collazo (12-0, 9 KOs), hosted a media workout today in his native Puerto Rico as he prepares to depart in the coming days for Indio, California. Collazo will make history once again when he defends his titles against Jayson “Striker” Vayson (14-1-1, 8 KOs), of Veruela, Agusan del Sur, Philippines. The fight is part of a special unified and undisputed championship doubleheader featuring the sport’s youngest, history-making stars, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20, live from Fantasy Springs Resort Casino and broadcast on DAZN. The event is presented in association with Miguel Cotto Promotions and Sampson Boxing.
“I’m ready. We know I’m facing a tough opponent. We’ve seen him, we’ve studied him, and together with my team, Carlitos and Juan de León, we have a plan to emerge victorious on Sept. 20.”
“My goal at 105 pounds is clear: to unify all the titles and become the first Puerto Rican in the five-belt era to be crowned undisputed champion.”
“The current IBF and WBC champions, Melvin Jerusalem and Pedro Taduran, will have no choice but to face me. I’m going to do the work to make that happen.”
“I’m confident, disciplined, and hungry for glory. Sept. 20 will be another great night for Puerto Rico.”
