19th Annual “Freeze Your Gizzard” Scheduled for Saturday, November 20, 2021
Participants are asked to bring two non-perishable food items for Loudoun Hunger Relief.
Leesburg, VA (November 12, 2021) – The Leesburg Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Loudoun Hunger Relief, is hosting the 19th Annual Freeze Your Gizzard Cross Country 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, November 20. Runners of all skill levels and ages are invited to join the fun in this cross country style race.
The 5K event will begin at 9 a.m. at the gazebo in the front field of Ida Lee Park. It will run through a scenic cross country course along Ida Lee Park’s 138 acres. A 1-Mile Fun Run will begin at 9:45 a.m. No dogs, wagons or baby strollers are allowed on the course due to uneven terrain.
Parking for the event will be in the festival parking field and can only be accessed from North King Street (Business Route 15). There will be no access to race parking from Ida Lee Drive.
Pre-registration is $25 for the 5K and $10 for the 1 mile fun run now through November 19. Day-of-event registration will be $30 for the 5K and $15 for the 1 mile fun run. Registration can be completed at www.prraces.com.
All pre-registered participants will receive a commemorative “Freeze Your Gizzard” long sleeve t-shirt. Prizes will be given out to the first, second and third place male and female winners of the 5K run for each age category, as well as top overall male and female runners.
All participants are being asked to bring two canned goods or non-perishable items to donate to Loudoun Hunger Relief.
