Arrest Made in Leesburg Robbery Investigation

Leesburg, VA – Shaquante Simms of no fixed address has been charged with one count of robbery by the Leesburg Police Department. Simms was arrested on December 11, 2022, in Berkeley County, West Virginia. He is currently being held on no bond at the Eastern Regional Jail and Corrections Facility in Martinsburg, West Virginia on the Leesburg charge as well as on multiple charges from other Virginia and West Virginia law enforcement agencies.
The Leesburg charge stems from an incident that occurred on Saturday, December 3, 2022, shortly before 1:00 AM, at the 7-Eleven convenience store, located at 110 Dry Mill Road SW. The Leesburg Police Department received a report that an adult male suspect had demanded cash from the clerk. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of US currency from the register as well as merchandise and fled the store on foot. The clerk was not injured during the encounter.
Leesburg Police detectives subsequently released video surveillance still images of the suspect to the public. We would like to thank the members of the public who subsequently reached out to our detectives. Their tips directly led to the identification of the suspect.
