| After the community learned that the Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) has 28 flood control projects funded with federal dollars that are at risk of missing key deadlines, Judge Hidalgo began calling for transparency and urgency to ensure these projects get off the ground before they lose funding. Judge Hidalgo, Commissioner Rodney Ellis and other local officials helped secure nearly $1B in federal funding after Hurricane Harvey, and Harris County residents deserve to know that the county is doing everything it can to use that funding efficiently.
Especially with hurricane season approaching, Judge Hidalgo and Commissioners Court asked HCFCD to deliver clear timelines and provide monthly updates with clear, project-by-project timelines to show each project’s status, what’s at risk, and what’s being done to finish the projects before the funding expires. |
