On Saturday, September 26, 2026, the public is invited to a celebration filled with retro fun, family‑friendly activities, and special commemorations honoring the library’s legacy.
“This building has been a welcoming place for learning, creativity, and opportunity for half a century,” said Sandy Gaw, Library Director of the Houston Public Library. “Our 50th anniversary is a celebration of Houston’s diverse communities, the generations of visitors who have grown with us, and the transformative power of public libraries. We look forward to commemorating this milestone with everyone who has made the Jesse H. Jones Building a vital part of our city.”
