Totowa, NJ, February 4, 2023  – –  Main Events announced today that they have signed undefeated super middleweight Shawn “The Amazing” McCalman to a promotional contract. McCalman, (12-0, 6 KOs), was born and raised in Denver and now resides in Aurora, Colorado, where he trains at A1 Boxing.

McCalman won the American Boxing Federation American West Super Middleweight title with a unanimous decision win over highly touted Vaughn Alexander on July 17, 2021. He also has a unanimous decision win over then undefeated Marquis Moore on March 5, 2022.

“I’m very excited to start this chapter of my career with the support of Main Events,” said McCalman. “They’re one of the most prestigious and respected companies in the history of boxing and have promoted some of the biggest names in the sport. I look forward to creating a legendary legacy of my own with their support. I’d like to thank my management team Fighters First for making this opportunity possible. I’m training harder & smarter than ever. It’s time to show the world who ‘The Amazing’ Shawn McCalman is.”

Jolene Mizzone – President, Fighters First Management stated, “I couldn’t be happier to be working with Kathy Duva and Joseph Rotonda again, only on the other side of the table. I know with Main Events in our corner Shawn will become a World Champion.”

“We are very excited about signing undefeated Super Middleweight prospect Shawn McCalman,” said Main Events CEO Kathy Duva. “He is an exciting fighter and has made it clear that he is willing to fight anyone to reach his goal of becoming a world champion. He is extremely talented and is just entering the prime of his career now. The super middleweight division has been overlooked for many years now, but it has suddenly come to life and has become one of hottest divisions in the sport. I do not think it will be long before people start mentioning his name as one of the newest top contenders in this division.”

“We are also thrilled to be back in business with his manager Jolene Mizzone of Fighters First Management,” said Main Events Director of Operations Joe Rotonda. “We are obviously well aware of what Jolene is capable of and the wealth of knowledge that she brings to the table.”

Shawn began boxing at eighteen, but prior to that competed in martial arts, winning numerous national tournaments while practicing taekwondo. Shawn was attending Colorado State University at Pueblo to play football but left before he began. He played quarterback and safety at Far Northeast High School in Denver. “I dropped out of college and decided I wanted to pursue something new. Boxing was something I always loved and had an admiration for but never did it while growing up. Now that I was done with football, it was time to make that transition.” Noting that no family or friends of Shawn’s had ever boxed.
