Mayor Turner Receives the 2023 Inspire Change Changemaker Award from the Houston Texans

WHAT:
During halftime at Sunday’s game between the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns, Mayor Sylvester Turner was honored with the 2023 Inspire Change Changemaker award.

For the second consecutive year, the NFL and its clubs are honoring 32 individuals that are going above and beyond in their pursuit of social justice by helping to transform their communities. These Changemakers were nominated by clubs for having a meaningful impact across Inspire Change’s four focus areas: education, economic advancement, police-community relations, and criminal justice reform.

The Houston Texans nominated Mayor Sylvester Turner for his work as the 62nd Mayor of the City of Houston. Mayor Turner has launched several programs to empower the community including the Hire Houston Youth Program connecting thousands of local youth to local jobs and the Complete Communities program, a city-wide initiative to revitalize Houston’s most under-resourced and underserved neighborhoods.

«In this city, we know how to work together to make things happen. I am very proud of this city, and I love Houston. Serving as mayor has been an honor and a privilege. I am grateful to receive this tremendous acknowledgement from the Texans. The award humbles me, and what a way to celebrate Christmas Eve,» said Mayor Turner.
