One Suspect Arrested, Another Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 7901 Leonora Street 

 

Houston police have arrested one suspect and are seeking a second wanted suspect who are both charged in the fatal shooting of a woman found at 7901 Leonora Street about 3:10 a.m. on Tuesday (April 4).

Carlos Enrique Colon Lopez, 23, is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court. A booking photo of Lopez is attached to this release.

Josue David Ayala, 23, is charged with murder and unlawful carrying of a weapon in the 180th State District Court.  He remains wanted and a surveillance photo is below.

The are accused in the killing of Monica Navarre, 54.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Watson and M. Burrow reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call and located Navarre lying on the sidewalk in an apartment complex at the above address.  She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased by Houston Fire Department paramedics at the scene.

Further investigation identified Colon Lopez and Ayala as suspects in this case.  On April 5th, Colon Lopez was arrested by members of the HPD Gang Division Crime Reduction Unit without incident and was subsequently charged for his role in the shooting.  Ayala has also been charged but remains at-large.
