AUSTIN, Texas (Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026) – San Diego FC (SDFC) played to a 3-3 draw and earned a point on the road against Austin FC in MLS Matchday 28. With seven matches remaining in the MLS regular season, SDFC (8-11-8) currently sits in 12th place in the Western Conference with 32 points.
SDFC came out firing to start the second half, with midfielder Aníbal Godoy opening the scoring in the 50th minute after capitalizing on a series of rebounds inside the box. San Diego doubled its lead eight minutes later when Austin FC defender Mikkel Desler inadvertently turned the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a dangerous ball following a header on target from forward Cédric Bakambu. In the 64th minute, Marcus Ingvartsen extended SDFC’s lead to 3-0 with a left-footed finish off a cross from winger Anders Dreyer.
Austin FC responded with three unanswered goals to level the match. Forward Brandon Vázquez got the hosts on the board in the 73rd minute with a header, before forward Christian Ramírez pulled Austin within one in the 82nd minute. Ramírez then found the equalizer in the 86th minute to complete the comeback and send the match to a 3-3 draw.
SDFC will next return to MLS action when the Club travels to New York to face Red Bull New York on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 4:30 p.m. PT at Sports Illustrated Stadium. The match will be available to stream live on Apple TV, with radio coverage on San Diego Sports 760 AM.
