Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 9900 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 3:40 a.m. on Saturday (February 18).
The suspect, Marco Antonio Juarez, 21, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 208th State District Court. A booking photo of Juarez is attached to this news release.
The identity of the victim, 40, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Le and Officer K. Stanley reported:
A black Chrysler 300 and a black Toyota Camry were parked on the right shoulder of the freeway near the above address. The driver of the Chrysler was standing outside his vehicle, filling it with gas. A Toyota Tundra pickup truck, traveling westbound on the freeway struck the male. The impact pushed the male forward and caused him to strike the rear of the Camry parked in front of the Chrysler 300. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Tundra, later identified as Juarez, was determined to be impaired and was arrested at the scene. He was subsequently charged for his role in the crash. The driver of the Camry was not injured. |
