Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 10410 Richmond Avenue
Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 10410 Richmond Avenue that occurred about 4:05 a.m. on Tuesday (October 5).

The suspect, Dantrell Garrett (b/m, 32), is charged with murder in the 338th State District Court.  A booking photo of Garrett is attached to this news release.

The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Daignault and Detective M. Burrow reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a car wash at the above address and found the victim near the exit of the car wash with multiple gunshot wounds.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Initial investigation and evidence determined a male suspect shot the victim, ran to a vehicle and fled the scene.  Further investigation and witness statements identified Garrett as the suspect in this case.  HPD patrol officers obtained information regarding the vehicle Garrett was driving and he was taken into custody without incident following a traffic stop.  Officers recovered evidence that linked Garrett to the shooting.

Garrett was interviewed by homicide investigators and, after consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, a murder charge was filed.

At this time, the department does not believe there is a continuous threat to the general public.
