Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 4307 Beran Drive
Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 4307 Beran Drive about 11:40 p.m. on June 14.

The suspect, Deauntray Griffin (b/m, 28), is charged with murder in the 263rd State District Court.  He is accused in the death of Roderick Miller, 35.

A booking photo of Griffin is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants K. Daignault and M. Burrow reported:

A witness passing a residence in the 4300 block of Beran Drive called 9-1-1 after observing the victim, Mr. Miller, lying in the driveway.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to what was initially believed to be a cardiac arrest call.  While transporting Miller to Ben Taub General Hospital, they observed multiple gunshot wounds to the man and notified HPD.

Officers then responded to the residence and secured the scene.  A preliminary investigation indicated Miller was apparently shot while in the backyard of 4307 Beran Drive and then walked across the street to the residence where he was subsequently found.

Further investigation determined Griffin and Miller got into several physical and verbal altercations at two different locations earlier that day which led to the shooting at the above location.  Griffin was subsequently taken into custody and charged for his role in the shooting.
