Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 8700 Glenmont Street about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday (February 25).
The suspect, Edio Borges-Torres, 30, is charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court.
The identity of the victim, 27, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Clark and M. Nicotra reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a call for assistance by Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office deputies regarding a shooting at the above address. While investigating an unrelated nearby crash, Harris County Precinct 5 deputies saw a blue SUV chasing a white SUV, which resulted in a crash, followed by gunfire. Harris County Precinct 5 deputies responded to the scene and found a male, later identified as suspect Borges-Torres, assaulting another male.
After detaining the suspect, deputies and HPD officers found the victim had suffered a gunshot wound and called for medical assistance. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. Borges-Torres was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition.
Further investigation and statements from witnesses and Borges-Torres determined the suspect’s involvement in the shooting. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted and Borges-Torres was subsequently charged for his role in the incident.
