| Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man and a woman that occurred at 9545 Ella Lee Lane about 6:45 p.m. on Thursday (September 3).
Derrick Duane Jackson, 53, is charged with capital murder in the 228th Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Jackson is attached to this news release.
The identity of the male, 47, and female, 67, victims are pending notifications to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives G. Rangel and H. Montealegre reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex’s leasing office at the above address and located the unresponsive victims. They had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced them deceased at the scene.
Additional investigation identified Jackson as a possible suspect in this case. On Friday (Sept. 4), he was arrested by Midwest Patrol and Patrol Support Unit officers and provided a statement to HPD homicide detectives. He was subsequently charged for his role in the fatal shootings and booked into the Harris County Jail.
