Suspects Arrested, Charged in November 2022 Fatal Shooting at 7211 Northline Drive

Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of two others at 7211 Northline Drive about 8 p.m. on November 19, 2022.

One suspect, Darrien James Buck, 19, is charged with capital murder in the 184th State District Court.  A booking photo of Buck is attached to this news release.   A second suspect, a juvenile male, 16, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation Authorities on a capital murder charge.

Both are accused in the death of Kevin Nava, 18.

The two other victims, 19 and 21 years of age, were transported to an area hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Detective A. Graf and Officer E. Torres reported:

Officers were flagged down by two males in a parking lot of an apartment complex at the above address.  One male had sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder and the other male was shot multiple times.  Both victims told officers there was a third male victim likely deceased in the parking lot of the complex.  The third male, Mr. Nava, was located and pronounced deceased by paramedics.  The two surviving victims were transported to a local hospital.

Detectives learned three male suspects approached a truck and fired shots at Nava, who was inside the vehicle, and two other males in the parking lot.  A witness stated the suspects, described only as black males, fled the scene on foot.

Further investigation identified Buck and the juvenile as suspects in this case.  The juvenile was arrested on February 16 and charged for his role in the incident.

Buck was arrested on Wednesday (March 8) without incident and subsequently charged for his role in Nava’s death.

A third unidentified suspect remains at large.

Anyone with information about the unidentified suspect or in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
