Two Charged in Leesburg Felony Assault Investigation

UPDATE: Two Charged in Leesburg Felony Assault Investigation

Leesburg, VA (July 13, 2022) – On Tuesday, July 12, 2022, a teenaged juvenile male turned himself in at the Leesburg Police Department for his involvement in the July 11th felony assault that occurred in a parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 0 block of Fort Evans Road NE. The juvenile was served petitions charging him with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding and two counts of gang participation. He is being held at the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center.

On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, Marcos Sorto Argueta, 18, of Leesburg, turned himself in at the Leesburg Police Department. Sorto Argueta was served warrants charging him with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding and two counts of gang participation. He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.

Through the investigation it has been determined that the assault appears to have been a targeted attack.

Original News Release: Leesburg Police Investigate Felony Assault

Leesburg, VA (July 12, 2022) – On Monday, July 11, 2022 at shortly after 10:00 PM, the Leesburg Police Department Emergency Communications Center received a report of a felony assault that that was in-progress in a parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 0 block of Fort Evans Road NE.

Officers responded and located an adult male victim suffering multiple lacerations about his body. Officers determined that several suspects had fled prior to their arrival. Officers rendered aid to the victim until he was transported to an area hospital with apparent life-threatening injuries.

A second adult male victim fled the attack and went to the Leesburg Police Department. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of a serious, but non-life-threatening laceration to his upper body.

Warrants have been obtained charging Marcos Sorto Argueta, 18, of Leesburg, with two felony counts of aggravated malicious wounding. Anyone who believes that they see Sorto Argueta should not approach him and should immediately dial 9-1-1. A second person of interest, believed to be a juvenile, has been identified and the investigation continues.
