Victim’s Skeletal Remains Identified One Year After Her Disappearance at 11927 East Freeway

 

Houston police have learned the remains of a woman found in Dallas, Texas, were recently identified as the victim last seen at 11927 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 2:15 a.m. on September 22, 2023.

The victim is identified as Deundrea Ford, 21.

A suspect, Yoland J. Washington, 51, is charged with her murder in the 337th State District Court.  Washington is currently in custody in the Dallas County Jail.  A Dallas County Jail booking photo of Washington (previously released on January 14) is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Montalvo and Detective D. Higgs reported:

On September 22, 2023, Ms. Ford left her place of work with an unknown male in a white Ford Transit van.  Friends and family members were unable to make contact with Ford and, on September 23, 2023 she was reported missing.  The HPD Missing Persons Unit and the HPD Homicide Division initiated an investigation into the incident.

Further investigation and evidence identified Washington as the suspect in this case and he was linked to Ford’s disappearance.

Though her remains had not been located, on January 11, 2024, Washington was charged with Ford’s murder.  He was arrested in Dallas, Texas on an unrelated charge and he remains in the Dallas County Jail awaiting extradition to Harris County.

On March 15, 2024, a line worker observed skeletal remains in the 11100 block of Luna Road in Dallas.  On September 17, 2024, the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification notified HPD homicide investigators the remains had been positively identified as Ms. Ford.
