Wanted Suspect Arrested in February 2021 Fatal Shooting at 10801 East Freeway
A second suspect wanted and charged in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 10801 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) service road about 9:50 p.m. on February 5, 2021 is now in custody.

The suspect, Israel Perez, 31, is charged with murder in the 248th State District Court.  A previously arrested second suspect, Josie Torres, 31, is also charged with murder in the 179th State District Court.  Booking photos of both suspects (Perez’s is courtesy of the Oneida County Jail) are attached to this news release.

The two individuals are charged for their roles in the killing of Baldemar Flores, 31.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants B. Roberts and J. Stroble reported:

Officers were dispatched to a shooting call at a hotel at the above address and located Mr. Flores unresponsive in the parking lot.  He had suffered at least one gunshot wound.  Paramedics pronounced Flores deceased at the scene.

Further investigation led to the identities of two suspects as Torres and Perez.  Torres was arrested on August 16, 2021 by members of the HPD Westside Patrol Division Tactical Unit.

On Sept. 2, 2022 murder charges were filed against Perez.  He was also wanted on charges of aggravated robbery, felony evading arrest and possession of a controlled substance in separate incidents.  On October 4, Perez was arrested by members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and the Forest County Sheriff’s Office in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.  He’s awaiting extradition to Houston.
