Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 9707 South Gessner Road  

 

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 9707 South Gessner Road about 8:05 a.m. on January 11.

The suspect, Kenneth Vasquez, 34, is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 248th State District Court.  A booking photo of Vasquez is attached to this news release.

He is accused for his role in the killing of Richar Torres Gomez, 23, and wounding of another victim, 19.HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Hughey and K. Lovelace reported:  On January 11, Mr. Torres Gomez and another male got into an argument with an unknown male suspect regarding a loud vehicle.  The suspect pulled out a gun and shot both men.  Torres Gomez was transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in critical condition. Doctors pronounced him deceased on January 13.  The second victim suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital where doctors stated he is expected to survive his injuries..  Further investigation identified Vasquez as the suspect in this case.  He was arrested on Wednesday (Jan. 24) without incident and eventually taken to the Harris County Jail.
