HPD Teams up with Community Partners to Start School on the Right Foot

This past Saturday (August 19), HPD and Big Brothers and Big Sisters joined community partners Skechers, Academy Sports + Outdoors and nonprofit Soles4Souls to provide Houston-area youth over 800 pairs of shoes and other items to start the school year off on the right foot.

HPD Greater Houston Police Activities League (GHPAL) and Big Brother and Big Sisters identified program participants between the ages of 4 to 18.  The event allowed them to receive a new pair of BOBS from Skechers and the opportunity to customize the shoes at the event.  The students also received school supplies, backpacks and other items to help them start the school year at the head of the class.

This event was made possible by the support of community partners Skechers, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Soles4Souls, the Houston Police Officer’s Union and many other partner agencies.
