Local Employers Provide Summer Jobs at the Hire Houston Youth Job and Resource Fair

HOUSTON – Mayor Sylvester Turner’s Hire Houston Youth (HHY) program aims to provide 20,000 available jobs and internships for local youth ages 16 to 24. In partnership with the McDonald’s owner/operators in Greater Houston and Workforce Solutions, Hire Houston Youth is hosting its final Career and Resource Fair on Saturday, June 10th at the George R. Brown Convention Center, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., in Ballroom B.

Now in its eighth year, this is the culminating event of a series of six community job fairs spearheaded by the McDonald’s team.  The goal of this initiative is to economically empower hundreds of Houston’s youth and young adults.

The Career and Resource Fair will connect youth and young adults, ages 16 to 24, with summer employment opportunities and access to resources. Job seekers can interview with representatives from area employers and, in some cases, be hired “on the spot” with valid work documents.  In addition to job opportunities, local youth can access scholarship information and employment resources such as interviewing skills, transportation vouchers and financial literacy.  The event is free, open to the public and does not require pre-registration.
