Photos Released in Shooting at 13000 North Freeway
Houston police have released photos in the the shooting of a man and a woman at 13000 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) service road about 11:40 a.m. on Sunday (Aug. 22).

The suspect is described only as a heavyset black male in his early 20s, wearing a gray Adidas hoodie and dark-colored shorts.  His vehicle is described as a red, two-door Nissan Altima with paper license plate 23319Z2.

The male victim, 49, and female victim, 27, were transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Detectives A. Johnson and C. Brannen reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call on the southbound (inbound) service road at the above address and were told by the victims they were shot while driving.

The victims, a husband and wife, stated they had an altercation with someone at a nearby gas station and believe that is what led to the shooting.  According to the woman, she was standing in line inside the convenience store when the suspect approached her.  He said something to the woman and then cursed at her when she tried to explain she only spoke Spanish.

Thinking it best to leave, the woman exited the store and got into her vehicle with her husband.  The couple then observed the suspect following them southbound on the North Freeway feeder road.  She was able to take the attached photo (#1) of the suspect and vehicle (photo #3) before he began shooting at them.

Both victims were struck in the face and the husband (driver) was also struck in the arm. The couple immediately stopped and called 9-1-1.  They were then transported to an area hospital where they were treated and released.  The suspect fled the scene southbound on the North Freeway feeder road.  Detectives do not believe the owner of the vehicle (red sedan) is the suspect, however they would like to question him about any knowledge he may have on the identity of the shooter.

Additional surveillance photos of the suspect while he was in the convenience store are also attached to this news release.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect or the whereabouts of the red Nissan Altima is urged to contact the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division at 713-308-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
