Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 8400 Nairn Street  
Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 8400 Nairn Street about 4:25 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 1).

The suspect, Rene Alfredo Alvarado Lopez, 22, is charged with intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid in the 338th State District Court.  A booking photo of Alvarado Lopez is attached to this news release.

The identity of the male victim, 2, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Patterson and Officer D. Jones reported:

Alvarado Lopez was driving a green Dodge Ram pickup truck through the parking lot of the apartment complex at the above address when he struck a child walking in the driveway area.  Alvarado Lopez drove off.  Witnesses pursued him and caught up to his vehicle outside the front of the apartment complex.  They were able to detain him until officers arrived.  Paramedics pronounced the child deceased at the scene.

Officers questioned Alvarado Lopez, determined he was intoxicated and took him into custody.  He was charged with two felonies in the crash.
