Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Stabbing at 8700 Valley Flag Drive
Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of one man and the wounding of another at 8700 Valley Flag Drive about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday (June 26).

The suspect, Oscar Garcia (H/m, 26), is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 179th State District Court.  A booking photo of Garcia is attached to this news release.

The deceased victim, De Voir Antonio Stansberry, 23, was pronounced deceased by Houston Fire Department paramedics.  The wounded man, 37, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Arrington and Detective A. Dudley reported:

Suspect Garcia’s brother had two friends arrive outside their residence in the 8700 block of Valley Flag Drive.  While the brother was inside the residence, Garcia used a dagger and stabbed both Mr. Stansberry and the other man outside.  Garcia’s brother grabbed a pistol and fired it into the ground to scare Garcia into stopping his attack.  The victims fled the scene, running westbound on Tidwell Road.

Stansberry collapsed in a ditch in the 10100 block of Tidwell Road where he was later pronounced deceased by paramedics.  The surviving victim ran to a corner store to ask for help then returned to search for Stansberry.  He was found by responding HPD patrol officers at the intersection of Tidwell Road and Valley Flag Drive.

Further investigation led to Oscar Garcia being charged for his role in this incident and he was arrested without incident.
