Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of another at 12931 Nyack Drive about 9:55 p.m. on June 15.
The suspects, Johnathan Rashon Carter, 18, and Damon W. Steber, 20, are charged with capital murder in the 232nd and 263rd State District Courts, respectively. Their booking photos are attached to this news release.
They are accused for their roles in the killing of Jorge Jaimes, 18.
The other victim, Julian Becerra, 18, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
HPD Homicide Division Detective M. Perez, J. Nguyen and W. Huff reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in a parking lot at the above address. They were advised that Messrs. Jaimes and Becerra were meeting with two males. While they were talking, another male approached and all three males pulled guns on the victims, attempting to rob them. Jaimes was shot when he tried to drive away. Becerra returned fire and struck one of the suspects.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported Jaimes to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake where he was pronounced deceased.
Further investigation identified Carter as the suspect who was shot. He was driven by private vehicle to HCA Houston Healthcare Pearland where he was then transported to Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center. Carter was charged and booked into jail on June 20.
The investigation identified Steber as a second suspect. He was arrested on June 24 and charged in the case. Detectives have learned of a possible identity of a third suspect, 21. The investigation into his whereabouts and possible role in the incident is continuing.
